Discover Almuñécar – the gem of the Costa Tropical

Welcome to Almuñécar, an absolutely stunning town on the beautiful Costa Tropical! Imagine days soaking up the Spanish sun on beaches lapped by the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

With a population of a bit less than 30 thousand people Almuñécar  is the tourist capital of the Costa Tropical. The city boasts a fascinating past and picturesque landscapes. Most people do not even know that, with its 3,000-year history, it is the oldest city in the Spanish Mediterranean coast, a fact reflected in Almunecar’s numerous monuments. Traditions are cultivated year-round, with fairs, festivals, and local celebrations. The Holy Week celebrations, with their characteristic processions, deserve a special attention. There are many excellent restaurants in Almuñecar, serving both traditional and international food. The local cuisine is dominated by fresh fish and seafood, as well as beef dishes.

Costa Tropical

Thanks to its location between the sea and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the region is famous of a unique subtropical microclimate all year round. It is characterized by higher humidity and lower temperatures in summer and milder, warmer winter months. These allow tropical fruits farming, which is the backbone of the region’s economy.
